Landing on ISSA’s own ISSA Music in July, “4:18AM” sees the producer/songwriter who has worked on cuts from the likes of Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu and Paulina Rubio during her career, deliver a clipped, tight piece of funk-laced and jacking house. Heavy ‘on the one’ beats and honeyed vocals from legendary songstress Thea Austin, as well as spoken vocals from ISSA herself, makes for a powerful, purple-tinged track.
Russian-born, Canada-based Soledrifter known for output for the likes of Peppermint Jam and King Street retains the original’s swagger while adding a weighty dose of electronics into the track’s DNA via prominent bleeps and moody tones.
